Free money from Housing NZ, to help make up your home loan deposit, to buy your first home.

Housing NZ can give you $1000 for every year that you have been in KiwiSaver, up to a maximum of $5000 per person, to buy an existing house – basically, house that is already there like the one you are renting at the moment.

Or,

You can get up to $10,000 per person if you are building a new house.

Criteria:

Firstly, if you are a single person applying, your income cannot be over $85,000 per year.

If there is 2 or more borrowers, your joint income cannot be over $130,000 per year.

Secondly, you need to be enrolled into a KiwiSaver scheme and have been putting money into KiwiSaver for a minimum of 3yrs.

So, if you meet the income cap, and have been putting money into your KiwiSaver continuously for 3 – 5yrs plus, you will qualify to get access to the grant.
